Paul Hering CPCU
Paul Hering is an insurance industry innovator and a San Diego civic leader with over 30 years of business experience. As West Region Chief Executive Officer of Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC and Managing Principal of Barney & Barney/MMA, Paul is responsible for setting strategy and managing operations for the company’s Western US region (California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Alaska). Paul is also a member of MMA’s Strategic Steering Committee. He joined Barney & Barney in 1985 and was elected CEO by the firm’s executive committee in 2003. Since then, Paul has helped MMA’s West Region become one of the most successful insurance brokerages in the country with 650 employees and over $160 million in annual revenue.
Paul is committed to giving back to the community, serving on numerous boards of directors including Rady Children’s Hospital and Foundation, Rady Children’s Institute for Genomic Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles Chancellor’s Associates, Timken Museum of Art, and the San Diego Bowl Games Association. Additionally, Paul is President of the Barney & Barney Foundation which, since its inception in 2009, has given over $2 million in grants to community non-profits.
Paul graduated from UCLA with a BA in economics and holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
