Benefit Analyst

Summary:
Under supervision, work with Principals, Account Executives (AE’s), and Account Managers (AM’s) to support Barney & Barney clients to provide professional service in all areas relating to employee benefits. Develop a working relationship with the clients of Barney & Barney as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work on insurance carrier selection and the bidding process (both new & renewal) with Principals, Account Executives, and/or Account Managers.
  • Analyze proposals, inclusive of rates and benefits.
  • Review the results of the bidding process with Principals, Account Executives, and/or Account Managers.
  • Provide Principals, Account Executives, or Account Managers with recommendations on the proposal(s) to be presented.
  • Maintain our Agency Management System.
  • Track renewals and proposals.
  • Coordinate and prepare materials required for formal client presentations.
  • Participate in presentations with Principal or Account Executive.
  • Prepare and coordinate announcement material for enrollment process for sold or transferred business.
  • Work with carrier representatives to coordinate all activity for a smooth implementation of new plans.
  • Coordinate and conduct employee open enrollment meetings.
  • Attend sales meetings with Principal or Account Executive.
  • Coordinate "Administrative Installation" with insurance carrier representatives and participate in installation meetings.
  • Prepare files and other records needed for Barney & Barney.
  • Participate in market research projects.
  • Keep abreast of the marketplace.
  • Maintain the professional standards established by Barney & Barney when working with clients.
  • Provide back up to other Benefit Analysts as needed.
  • Share information with Benefit Analysts and others to create a good network of information within the Department.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Requires a minimum of five years insurance background, specifically in the employee benefits area.
  • Maintain a valid, unrestricted State of California Life & Disability License and meet the continuing education requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to do oral presentations.
  • Above average analyzing, problem solving and planning/organizational techniques are essential.
  • Must be dependable and a good team player.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with client information.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative within established guidelines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet usage required.
  • Maintain a valid California Drivers License & a dependable car.

Financial Analyst Trainee

Summary:
Provide analytical services to specifically assigned clients. Develop & maintain strong working relationships with producers of specifically assigned clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work on insurance carrier selection for the bidding process with producers on assigned clients.
  • Prepare the Request For Proposal and work on renewals on assigned clients with team members and/or assigned mentor.
  • Analyze insurance proposals, inclusive of rates and benefits, received from carriers.
  • Coordinate and prepare materials required for formal client presentations based on discussions with team and using approved templates.
  • Make final changes and formalize binders are presented by deadlines agreed to.
  • Attend internal client and sales meetings as necessary.
  • Prepare files and other records needed for Barney & Barney.
  • Participate in market research projects & keep abreast of the insurance marketplace.
  • Maintain the professional standards established by Barney & Barney when working with clients.
  • Provide back up to other Analysts as needed & share information with other Analysts to create a good network of information.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
  • College Degree Required.
  • Obtain & maintain a valid, unrestricted State of California Life & Disability License and meet the continuing education requirements.
  • Strong math skills required, above average analyzing, problem-solving and planning & organizational techniques are required.
  • Must have excellent verbal & written communication skills and be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task.
  • Must be dependable and a good team player.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative within established guidelines.
  • Must know Microsoft Suite products.
  • Maintain a valid California Drivers License & a dependable car.

Account Executive Sales Trainee

Summary:
Reporting to the Sales Principal, develop new accounts as agreed upon at hire.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for development of new business as agreed upon by the individual and the Sales Manager.
  • Develop strong client / business relationships with the senior management of the client.
  • Coordinate and execute servicing of the client within the scope of the services available within the Department.
  • Meet with the Sales Manager weekly to review goals and prospective clients.
  • Provide the Department Manager with Business Production status reports in accordance with the requests made by the Department Manager in the quarterly review.
  • Must support the maintenance of our Database and Imaging Systems.
  • Attend Departmental and Sales meetings as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
  • College graduate with a minimum of two years sales experience.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid unrestricted Life and Disability License in California and meet the continuing education requirements.
  • If the individual is involved in the sale of Long Term Care then the individual must maintain the required certification through continuing education.
  • Able to work and make decisions as it relates to the clients with specific guidance from the Sales Manager.
  • Must have a strong attention to detail.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills including excellent oral presentation skills.
  • Maintain a valid California driver's license and dependable car.
  • Must have knowledge of personal computing with the ability and willingness to learn and use all computer programs as required.
  • Must have the ability to operate standard office equipment- Telephone, Copier, Fax and Personal Computer.
  • Must be dependable and a team player.
  • Must maintain client confidentiality.
  • Must have above average ability to problem-solve.
  • Must have excellent math skills.
