SHAWN PYNES
Barney & Barney welcomed Shawn as a Principal in April 2002. Prior to joining Barney & Barney, Shawn held the position of Vice President for PacifiCare where he was responsible for management of its Northern California Sales & Marketing offices.
With more than 17 years of insurance experience, Shawn began his insurance career with Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company in San Francisco, and later moved to Seattle where he was the Manager for Mass Mutual’s Northwest Group office. He later transferred back to the Bay Area as the Vice President for First Health, the nation’s largest TPA. There, he managed the Northern California Sales and Service office. In addition to working for several large insurance companies and TPAs, Shawn also founded a reinsurance marketing firm, specializing in Stop-Loss Insurance for large employers.
Shawn is a graduate of St. Mary’s College of California. He is currently a member of several industry associations, including Biocom, is on the Advisory Board of UCSD Connect and is a member of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce Healthcare Committee.
